How to keep score in classic okey: points, gösterge and pairs explained
Most okey games in cafés and living rooms are not 101 but classic okey, often called "düz okey" or simply "okey" in Turkish. The big difference: the leftover tiles are not added up at the end. Instead, every hand is worth fixed points. That makes scoring simpler, yet after ten hands nobody remembers who has how many points. This article explains the points and shows how to track them on your phone with okey101.app.
How classic okey is scored
Every player starts with a score, usually 20, or 12 or 6 for shorter games. Whoever wins a hand takes points from the others:

The first player to reach 0 loses the game. Many tables simply play a set number of hands instead, and whoever has the most points left wins. House rules vary from table to table, so it is worth agreeing on them before the first deal.

Tracking it with okey101.app
Instead of counting down from 20, you collect penalty points in the app. It is the same maths: whoever reaches 20 penalty points first has hit 0.
- Create a scoreboard: on the home page choose "Okey 101", enter four players and set the number of hands generously, for example 20.
- After every hand: the player who finished gets 0. Everyone else gets 2, or 4 after a pairs or okey finish.
- Gösterge: if someone shows the gösterge, add 1 for every other player in that hand.
- Ignore the -101 and +101 buttons: they belong to 101 Okey. In classic okey you simply type the numbers yourself.
After every hand the table shows who is ahead: the player with the fewest points leads. As soon as someone reaches 20, the game is over. With the PIN everyone at the table can follow the score on their own phone, and at the end the result can go to the WhatsApp group as an image.
Why keep score at all?
In classic okey the numbers are small, but the arguments stay the same: did he really show the gösterge? Was that a pairs finish? Who won the seventh hand? A shared score that everyone can see settles it before it becomes an argument. And after the evening, everyone knows who owes the rematch.
